Meet Kevin Roth, a Community Banker who has served Grabill, IN for over 45 years, currently at The Hicksville Bank as VP/Director of Commercial Lending. Kevin, a lifelong resident of Grabill, has also served on the Grabill Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years in a variety of roles, currently a Board Member. He is also a member of Grabill Missionary Church, a member of the Grabill Chapter of Growing Hope Globally (food security organization), Grabill’s representative to NewAllen Alliance, INC, and volunteer (and past president) with the Grabill Country Fair.

“We know the owners & workers in the local shops. Because we will encounter each other at school, church, ball games, or on the street, we strive to help & take care of each other. Example: the collaboration between Amish neighbors & the Chamber of Commerce at the annual benefit auction.”

“I really appreciate the Grabill Hardware & the NAPA store. They go beyond in answering questions and supplying advice for the various projects I find myself in. I love the Country Fair and the family values it upholds. Grabill Missionary Church is where every major event in my life has occurred.”

Meet James (Jim) Gerig, a local business owner and leader. Jim became involved with the community at a young age, growing up in Grabill and working at the Grabill Hardware while still in high school. Over 50 years later, Jim is now one of the owners of Grabill Hardware and Woodburn Hardware, splitting his time between the two stores. Jim currently serves as the President of the Grabill Chamber of Commerce but has filled a variety of Chamber roles since 1995! His work with both Grabill Promotion, and later the Chamber of Commerce, has been fundamental to developing Grabill’s tourism and community events like 10K Marathons and the Road Apple Cruise-In.

Meet Nicholas Fuller, a Community Banker with over 11 years in the industry, currently at The Hicksville Bank as the Branch Manager for Grabill, IN. Nick has served on the Chamber for 2 years and is the current Secretary. Nick and his wife, Jessica, own Fuller Plants LLC in Fort Wayne, a house plant boutique on East State Blvd. They moved to the Leo/Grabill area in 2019, purchasing a home owned by Jessica’s family, to be close to where she grew up. Nick says “We made the easy decision to put roots down here to be close to family. We enjoy the quiet atmosphere and family-centric community found in Grabill and Leo/Cedarville.”

Local businesses are the ones sponsoring the little league teams, donating to benefit auctions, organizing community events, and they know you by name when you walk in; you don’t get that with big business.”

“My wife and I are known by our neighbors as “The Plant People”. Jessica and I started Fuller Plants LLC out of our garage in 2020 and now operate a full-scale boutique in Fort Wayne. Fuller Plants is a houseplant-centered store that has a focus on encouraging growth of not just plants, but people. We love helping our customers collect and learn about different species of house plants. In our free time, Jess and I enjoy visiting cat cafes, greenhouses & other house plant stores, and just being outside in general.”

“My favorite local spot is Downtown Grabill. There’s great food, cute shops, fun family events throughout the year, and everything is walkable! I love grabbing a coffee and strolling through the different stores, popping in to check out the Dutch Auction at the Hardware once in a while. There’s not a store downtown that my wife or I haven’t trusted with our business-from Grabill Meats to The Courier, Souder Feeds to Barrel Proof, Grabill has a little bit of everything for everyone.”

Meet Dave Shuey, President and CEO of Financial Partners FCU. Dave serves on multiple boards in the area, is a talented chef, coach, athlete, father, and more! Dave currently serves as a Board Member with the Grabill Chamber of Commerce and has been a part of the community for over 15 years. Dave first invested in our community as a volunteer with Growing Grabill, but over the last 6 years, has transitioned to a full-time Board Member on the Grabill Chamber. Dave is also a Board Member of the NE Indiana CU Chapter of Credit Unions, where he serves as the Legislative Affairs Representative, LifeWise Academy in Berne, IN,  and finally, the NE Indiana and Great Lakes Region of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Dave also likes to volunteer with the Woodburn Main Street Group, and helps coach a Berne, IN based travel baseball team, the FIN’s (Faith in Sports). About his professional experience, Dave says “I have been the President and CEO of FPFCU for 15 years. Before that, I was Regional Business Development Manager for United FCU (St Joseph, MI) in the Marion, OH region. From 1995-2006 I worked for Security National Bank in Springfield, OH as a branch manager, BSA Officer, and Head of The Indirect Lending Program.”

“Supporting local businesses is vital if we all want to survive with the businesses we have in our community. When there is a chance to do so, FPFCU, will do business in Grabill as we have hardware needs, normal supply needs, and, of course, the occasional coffee or pizza run – and we can do all of that locally!!!”

Fun Fact or Personal Note:

“I am the baby in a family of five farm boys! I LOVE helping coach my son’s baseball teams and spending quality time with him and my beautiful wife. I like playing golf, but really enjoy baking. While my time is limited with how much I do, I enjoy competing in the Culinary Arts Division at the Indiana State Fair, where I have taken home quite a few ribbons over the many years I have competed. If anyone needs a root beer float cookie – just let me know!”
